Digital InTech Magazine

The ISA (which used to be the acronym for the Instrument Society of America but now stands for the Instrumentation, Systems and Automation Society -shouldn’t that be ISAS... whatever) publishes a monthly magazine for its members called InTech. I’ve been getting the paper version for more than 35 years and just the other day I received an email announcing a online Digital version of InTech.
If you are interested, you can view a sample issue it by CLICKING HERE.
Here’s my quick take on it:
It’s actually looks pretty good and has some clever, advanced features!
The quickness with which it loaded via my Comcast connection was excellent and so was the bold, uniform navigation bar at the top of every screen. It provided a consistent means to get around and was very responsive.
I’m signing up. Hope it saves some trees and costs for ISA or ISAS, whatever,
But there’s more.
The search function and link reveal brings a new dimensions to InTech, as does the PDF download capability.
From my of view, I am interested in many things, not the least of which is the specialty coverage it gives to measurement topics and areas, as well as some Society and training interests (I’m still an active member of ISA’s Philadelphia Section).
For instance, here’s number of counts returned for a few search keywords using to included search function popup box:
new-39, free-11,measure-21, sensor-20, temperature-17, pressure -19, flow-14, level-31, pH-5, density-5, calibrate-6, wireless-29, rfid-8, member-13, section-7, course-5.
The email included a rationale as to why I might like to use the digital version over a paper one, to wit:
So Why Switch to the New Digital InTech?
The digital version of InTech offers many benefits:
* Powerful search function - search the entire issue on any keyword, instantly.
* Hyperlinks - the digital version of InTech features a hyperlinked Table of Contents as well as ads hyperlinked to company websites.
* Print - you can print a single article, a range of pages, or the whole issue if you want.
* Portability - download the issue to your computer and take it with you. It’s always as close as your keyboard.
* Easy Archive - start an InTech library without having to take up shelf space or have print magazines lying around.
I couldn’t agree more. (It might be green to mention saving trees and printing costs-big time, too.)
Good job, well done. I’m signing up today!
